I'm not sure which of the forums I posted on about my 'cheapo' PVC cover frame and tarp. After 40+ knot winds and 14" of snow in the northeast my 1" PVC frame and plastic trap cover has come through with zero problems. The whole thing is in perfect condition with no leaks or wholes and the boat is clean and dry. Never again will I use wood furing strips as a frame. I have 7' walking around headroom under the cover which leaves plenty of room to work in a clean snow/ice free environment. Only wish I had done this years ago.

How about a picture?

I'm still looking for the ideal cover. This year I used a 2x4 ridge with vert. supports and wood strapping down to the rubrail. Seems OK, but doesn't allow you to work on the boat. Here is a shot of one made with (I think) double bent 2x4's, looks pretty good.

Sure looks good but.....

.....it would never house my boat. I would need at least 40L X 15W X 65H or 15H if without the mast. And for sure the yard would not be happy with me for taking up that much room(they're packed wall to wall). I'll get some pics of it shortly. The frame U built is what I used in the past, but as U say 'there's no room to work'. With the bent 1" PVC there's plenty of room.

Hi Ken

She's on the hard in Glen Cove Marina. Yes I always paint the bottom (well it's a joint effort of me and the crew). She gets a light sanding, wiped down with acetone, then sprayed. After 2 days drying time we wet sand.
