I picked up this info from 'Lectronic Latitude 38': "We're way late in reporting this because we were busy with the Baja Ha-Ha at the time, but Tim Schaaf's Moorings 4500 catamaran Jetstream hit a weather buoy and was holed during the second day of the West Marine Caribbean 1500 from Hampton, Virginia, to the British Virgin Islands. Schaaf is well-known to many Mexico cruisers and Ha-Ha vets. For something like 15 years he cruised Mexico aboard his Hunter 33 Casual Water, and for many years was the dockmaster at Marina Cabo San Lucas. Two summers ago, he was instrumental in helping save many boats in Puerto Escondido after Hurricane Marty. The 23-boat Caribbean 1500 fleet started three days late because of weather concerns, and then two days later, on November 12, at 10:30 p.m., Jetstream hit one of the very large offshore weather buoys. She was holed up forward, but has a collision bulkhead which dramatically reduced most of the water ingress. Had Schaaf and crew been aboard his monohull, they almost surely would have immediately have had to take to the liferaft." (Courtesy Lat 38) You may recall, Tim used to be on the board quite a bit while he was in Cabo. Rick D.

Thanks Rick.

We had some good dialog in the days when Tim was down in Baja. So that is what he is up to, sailing fast and flat?! I wonder if the weather buoy was a programmed waypoint. If so then chock one up for the GPS!
