Jim is currently moored temp. at Solomons and plans to return to his slip on Saturday. Joan and Jim have been sailing for over a week with daughter and grandchild. He is undergoing chemo and the numbers for those what I am talking about are so far down that it is near normal.. He has 8 more sessions to go. Spirits are way high and if he gets over this God willing, the Captain or should I say Joan, has authorized a bigger boat. Boy I was caught off guard for the bigger boat. He is planning on a trip to the Keys early next year. I know Joan and he will have cool posterior ends for the first part of the trip.

Jim is a fighter and his spirits are high. News is excellent and he is living life to the fullest. The only bad part is the fact he puts up with old Crazy Dave. Gosh, I quit counting the years I have been Casper the friendly pest.

Dave, that is great news! I'd say it makes my day but really, it makes my year. Thanks for the update!

I talked to Jim the other day while he was at Solomons. He was in great spirits and he has a lot of hope.

If anyone can beat this, Jim can. He has an awesome attitude about it.

I hope to eventually bump into him and Joan while they are sailing around but I need to get back into the water first.

I will let Jim know and suggest that he see this great outpouring. I will keep everyone posted. Bad Obsession, Jim will be at the Gov's race and plan to be back at his slip this Saturday evening.

Thanks Dave.
I really want to make the Gov's race but I am out of the water waiting on a new bobstay (long story). I am not sure if I will splash this year or not (I am way over budget at this point). I am also closing on a house soon. It has been a crazy year.

I have to tell everyone that Java Jim is a blast to be around. He is young at heart and him and Joan are caring people. If you ever get a chance to meet up with him you should.

Dave, Bad, et al.,
Although I've never actually met any of you, I feel I know you all from all of the posts over the years.
Jim, please add my hopes that you will continue have a speedy relapse and then stay healthy for many years to come.
Bad, thanks for the local knowledge a few months ago about the St Clements area. We did, indeed, sail up to and anchor off of Leonardtown back on June 26th. As you said, it's one of the very best small towns on the entire "Bay" that one can easily access from the water. ... and I second your and Jim's sentiments about Salsa's. The next night we anchored in Canoe Neck Creek and went to Morris Pt restaurant. Thanks again for the great advice.

That is great to hear. I love Bretton Bay. It is my favorite place to anchor close to home.

The cliff that is half moon shaped is a great place to anchor (it is right across from the sand/gravel area). It is plenty deep and gets shade earlier.

Maybe we can get a bunch of us together during the boat show.

Other thought.....We may try to have a raft-up in Canoe Neck Creek this September. We shall see. I need to get some boat stuff done first.

Great

I talked with Jim last week and said yes things were going good and he was happy guy for sure and we are also so happy for him and can't wait for him to come down to keys and over our neck of woods with his new or old boat.
We know Jim well and no way he will let this thing get the best of him.

Put me in the outpouring. The news was initially grim. I am so happy for Jim, whom I've never met. I wish for Jim continued success in his fight against this disease.

Ad us in too! Jim stopped by Escape when he was in Portland and we had a great talk - we're rooting for him and Joan.

Buck420; Canoe Creek? Ask Jim what occurred there once. I had to laugh.

Bad Obsession: I sold Java to Joan and Jim along with many other boats over the years. He has stayed in my home and we are very close friends. He is like a close brother to me but amazed how he has put up with me over the years and yes he once took a photo of butt crack while working on his 260.

Stu and others, I will suggest Jim respond to this thread when he gets back into port. Just keep the prayers coming

Oh boy.....it might end up being WHICH story from canoe neck creek. LOL
There are some stories from that place.

Canoe Neck Creek has a tricky unmarked entrance (that is tricky, unless you have a chart plotter). Another Jim who owns a boat named Utopia found the shallow side of Canoe Neck Creek entrance so I radioed him and let him know that he made an excellent Nav marker for the other boats in the group coming in the creek.

It is amazing how close you can get with people you have never met in person through a place like this. I have met a few of the people on here....instant friends.
