Hunter 36 Punta Gorda
We have a 2007-36 Hunter which we love but had we known
when ordering her we would have upgraded the toilet.
Any way it is working right now but always gives my wife
a hard time pumping and than I have to go play with getting
it pumping it out and even worse when sailing and I have to
go below and pump it out,a real pain.
Any way my wife saw how great a Vacu flush works in the saber
next to us at our marina,a power boat friend also has the same
unit and loves it.
They claim it uses very little fresh water when it flushes which
really flushes with great force,I am not worried about the 12 volt
power it uses or the noise,it seems to do a great job flushing with
little water,I think I am using more fresh water now with my problem
toilet now and not very good results.
Has any Hunter owners or other sailboat owners have this unit or upgraded
this type unit.
I know Peggy will jump in and give me advice.
By the way I recently installed a Holding tank vent filter and it works great
keeping the odor completely gone.

You don't have to spend the price of a Vacuflush

to have everything it offers and more--and also without losing a major portion of your storage space to the separate components that are part of the Vacuflush system...which, btw, actually needs about the same amount of flush water as most other macerating electric toilets...90% of problems with the Vacuflush are caused by using too little.

If you don't mind staying with a manual toilet, the Raritan PH II http://www.raritaneng.com/products/toilets/manual/ph_2.html for about $300 would give you 20 years of reliable service with a minimum of maintenance.

For around $500, the pressurized fresh water version of the Raritan SeaEra http://www.raritaneng.com/products/toilets/electric/sea_era.html is a great choice...draws only 10 amps, needs less than 2 qts of flush water and is quieter than even most household toilets.

For around $800, the Tecma Silence http://www.tecma.net/nautica/index.html is now the "gold standard" among all china thrones. Available in both sea water and pressurized flush water models...dual flush buttons for flush water and discharge...and a "grinder" (they don't call it a macerator) that can even chew up a tampon.

You read my book but installed a vent filter anyway???

Thanks Peggy

I did order your book but never got it,maybe it's lost in the
mail because of moving to Florida and now staying in NY,a lot
of forwarding of our mail by my retired postal worker wife.
Someone at my marina installed a vent filter and he was jumping
up and down how great it worked and had an extra filter cheap.
It was so easy to install, was going to add a second vent but
was so much more work.
I guess I could still add a second vent to help but right now
it is great no odor coming out the vent at all, maybe the book will
show up soon.

Steve

When you get a chance let me know which model you
have for the toilet part not the rest of the system
in the aft cabin.
Yes I think the generator part of the system will
fit nicely under the port side aft cabin.

NoT A Problem

Not a problem Steve I can wait it's not like I will be doing too soon
with all I have going on right now.
My dock neighbor has a vacuflush in his Saber so maybe when he comes around I will look at his.
I also see that Northeastern Sanitation who is a supplier of Vacuflush is
not too far from when I will be visiting my MOM soon.
Thanks again I will be researching some more before I make a decision, but I have
seen the vacuflush on some friends mostly power boats and they all ask why don't
sailboaters have better toilets, what are they all too cheap.
And I tell them we don't want to waste water and 12 volt I guess ????.
