I have a '97 h26 with CDI roller furling. Since the CDI has an internal halyard my regular jib halyard is not used (except for raising/lowering the mast). At a boatshow seminar, I heard a guy speak about using an extra jib halyard to rig a stormsail setup without installing an inner forestay. His point was that reefing a furling unit only works to a point and you are then better off with a separate stormsail. Has anybody out there done this? Are there any other ideas about useful things to do with the extra jib halyard? Thanks.
