Can anyone recommend a way to unstep the mast on a 1980 Hunter 27 without a lift or crane? I need to move the boat from New Jersey to Massachusetts and the yard it is currently stored in specializes in power boats and does not take down masts. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Eric

Find a big tree and a Monkey

Don it with a big tree and someone who was willing to climb a tree. dangerous though. You could rent one of those buckets you tow behind a pickup that would go up high enough for a twenty seven. I have seen them at several rental places. I think they will go 45 to 50 feet high, have also seen it done sandwiched between two boats using the halyards and winches off of the other boats. I personally rent a crane to step mine. hunter 34. On the trailer the mast is about 60 to 65 foot from land to the top. Too much risk to use any other means. A twenty seven is a lot smaller task.
