unsteping mast

Dear Emil,

It seems that you created a problem for yourself.I usuallly lower the mast with the V form stainless steel boom that is
provided with every Vega in the water.

If I have no help I asked the harbour people to to it . They use
their crane, which is used for lifting boats out of the water.

If you lower the mast on land while the boat is on a cradle I wonder
whether the boat might dislocate from the cradle.

A crane or about six people and a long ladder to hold up whilst everyone
else is on the forestay, backstay and cap shrouds then slowly lowered. I
have done this many times and my brothers (two of them) did it by themselves
but they just let it drop on a springy fence!

Cheers

Hey,
what is this V form stainless steel boom that Mr. Jansen speaks of?
I never saw it or heard of it before. Anyone got a picture or know
what he's talking about?

By the way a while back someone said why the pulpit is oddly shaped
but I can't remember now. Something about the "U" shape in front
being for some purpose or other? Anyone know?
