I just purchased a 1986 Catalina 27 and I’m not familiar with diesels. I’m doing routine maintenance & noticed this hose that’s very loose & unattached. Can someone shed a light on its function? Thanks!

Looks like one end is attached to the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve. On my boat, the other end is hooked up to the air cleaner body.

Kappy well done.
I don’t have a Universal but from the pictures of the M18, I found on the internet, that would be my guess. It only has a clip on the hose. Not a lot of pressure. The hose looks worn . Looks like it could be retired and a new one installed connected as suggested.

Perhaps someone with an M18 will share his/her experience.

Thanks both. There’s no port on the air cleaner to attach to & Nothing within the hose’s length

I had to create a port on the air cleaner body to connect the hose. Prior to that, the hose dripped into the engine bilge.
