Does anyone have a quick checklist for Spring Commisioning an old Universal Diesel? Or is there a book you would recommend? Our 82 Catalina 38 has been on dry dock for the winter. Thanks

1. Open the throttle slightly. 2. Keep the raw water intake closed. 3. Run hairdryer into horn, using shorepower. 4. Stop hairdryer after 20 minutes. 5. Start the engine. 6. When it turns over, quickly open raw intake. 7. High idle for 20 minutes, checking for leaks. 8. Go for a spin to check stuffing box leaks. 9. Break out the beer!

I have a 1986 M-12 Universal on my 28' o'day. Started her up first time last week. I press button for glow plugs for about 2 minutes, since engine has not run for 6 months. (Normally press gloplugs for 20 seconds.) Press starter, and started first time. After she runs for a few minutes, change the two fuel filter, bleed the engine, and restart to make sure everything is okay.
