Nice N Easy

I have a problem concerning a Universal Diesel, model 5416, a little two cylinder model. The raw water pump bolts on the the front of the injector pump, and is mechanically driven from there. The impellar is an inch or so in front of the injector pump, mounted on a little round casting. I need to know where the seal is with this arrangement. Is it directly behind the impellar, or is it at the back side of the casting where it bolts to the injector pump body. Or both. I have a tiny water leak, at the gasket where the raw water pump bolts up to the injector pump body. As I am in an area where any parts are going to be difficult at best to come by, I am worried about water getting into the oil. The leak is not enough to worry about for the time being, if I can be reasonably sure the water will not also get into the engine oil. If anyone is familiar with this engine and knows where the seal is, please respond to this inquiry. Any and all help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Maybe

Maybe the attached link to the exploded parts diagram will help. There are some other links from that website to ask specific questions of Diesel experts. Good Luck! Tim Brogan April IV C350 #68 Seattle

I'd order both seals

There is most likley a seal on both the raw water pump and one on the injector pump. I'd order both and replace both. One would hold the oil or fuel in the engine and one would keep the water in the raw water pump.

Info can be found at Torrensen marine They are very helpful. The water can not get into the oil at this point.I just did the seal on mine $32.00.If you are anywhere near mechanically inclined its a cake walk.Just remove the entire pump Two bolts on block and work bench the project.Good luck
