My boat mechanic tells me that Westerbecke will not be producing any more parts for the Universal engines. "When the current supply of replacement parts are gone there will be no more", he said. Is that ture? Where can I get a Manual on an M2-12 and what parts should I keep on hand, (fan belt, impeller, fuel filters, etc.). P.S. the engine is 10 years old and has 292 hours.

Not True -- Universal parts ... being dicontinued?

It was said: My boat mechanic tells me that Westerbecke will not be producing any more parts for the Universal engines. "When the current supply of replacement parts are gone there will be no more." This is simply not true. It is a rumor ... that's all. I just got off the phone with Westerbeke and they said that there are no plans to discontinue the production and distribution of any Universal engine parts. In fact they noted that parts for both current and out-of-production engines are a major source of income for their company. There are three manuals available for your specific engine. A service manual, parts manual and owner/operators manual. Each manual sells for $25.00 and can be purchased from Torresen Marine at http://www.torresen.com/universal or by email universalparts@torresen.com In addition, any specific individual parts as well as spare part kits can be ordered online or by email or phone (231) 759-8596.
