Universal 5411 questions..

Ahoy Oday folk!

I purchased my (unsure of date) 28 this past February and have Ben getting to learn to use all the systems weekend by weekend.

I recently replaced my water pump impeller. After replacing it, I kept an eagle eye on the temp gauge. Upon use that first weekend all seemed well but, this past weekend I noticed two things:

1: temp gauge has stopped working.
2: seeing random STRONG streams of water coming from from what I assume is the bilge. (Had to leave in a bit of a hurry but, plan to go check to see if it's still floating today after work)

My theory is: IF the gauge has gone south, is the thermostat thinking the motor is still trying to "warm up" and thus diverting water flow?

Thanks bunches

The thermostat and the gage have nothing to do with each other. The thermostat controls the temperature, the gauge just tells you what the temperature is.
Is the water stream you're seeing the exhaust? The cooling system on the 5411 is unique. When the engine is cold and the thermostat is closed, only a tiny amount of water is discharged. When it heats up and the thermostat opens, much more is discharged. It's the only one I know of that does that.
