Uninstall VHF IC-M411

I need to uninstall the cables from my VHF IC- M411.

They are connected through the black rubber (re the lower right corner of the photo)

Can I just pull the black rubber ?

You can't pull that connection apart. It's a waterproofed unit. It's not a plug.

2 leads are power, one is audio, one is for gps rx

If you pulled the black rubber thing, I'll give you $20 for the radio...Seriously, you should have connections for everything, nearby. Just trace the wires back.

Traced the wires back. Successfully disconnected the 12V cables and the cable to the GPS antenna. Had my dealer program a new MMSI code and will reinstall today.

If you uninnstalled the radio, the reinstalled it in the same boat, why did you change the MMSI code? the original code, unless you never had one, should have been embedded in the radio.

I bought the boat second handed in France and brought it to Denmark. The VHF had a French MMSI code.

In Denmark - like in probably many other countries - the MMSI code belongs to the owner of the VHF.

When the boat is sold the seller will unregister the MMSI code with the authorities and the new owner will apply for a new MMSI code with the authorities.

When it has been obtained the new MMSI code needs to be programmed into the VHF,

Most VHFs - like my IC - M411 - do not allow the user to change the MMSI code. You therefore need to find an programmer authorised to change the MMSI code.

I therefore had to uninstall the VHF and bring it to an authorised programmer to change the MMSI code.

I did that by the way yesterday and successfully reinstalled the VHF as well
