In the 2004 Sail Magazine Sailboat Buyer's Guide, they don't have Hunter sailboats included. They don't even awknowledge that they exist in the directory. The largest sailboat maker not included? How can that be? Is it possible that Hunter decided not to renew their advertising with Sail Mag for '04 and this is a strongarm responce from Sail? If so, that is completely unethical on their part. Some one needs to investigate this, and make it public knowledge. It appears that the editorial staff and management of Sail magazine may be in violation of corenthian ethics among fellow sailors and editorial integrity.

It may be much simpler than that

Many, if not most, buyer's guides require payment for inclusion. It's like an advertising supplement. It may be that Hunter decided not to spend their ad dollars in it this year.

Remember the what do you read thread?

Seems like after that thread, where a lot of people responded that they read Latts and Atts Hunter started advertising in that magazine. Could be that the number of Hunter owners reading Sail has dropped to the point where Hunter moved the marketing money to a magazine that better reflected their owner (and potential new owner) demographics. Just a thought. Regards. Bruce. Neon Moon

not suprised

Just about all the magazines promote the companies that buy ads. just about evey mag does it. they are far from noble, its all about money!

No Hunter Ads in Sail or Sailing Mags

I noticed that Hunter had no ads in the December issues of either Sail Magazine or Sailing Magazine. Also not listed in the list of advertisers in the back of the magazines nor the list of internet links. I have been a subscriber of both magazines for about 4 years and Hunter has always had ads in both magazines. I wondered at the the time, if there had been a falling out between Hunter and the publishers?

Feel cheated by 2004 Sail Magazine Sailboat Buyer

I spent part of a Gift Card on the 2004 Sail Magazine Sailboat Buyer's Guide. I looked for Hunter and several other favorite products that were not there. I had no intention of buying an advertising brochure, I was looking for general advice that included ALL products on the market in the U.S. in certain categories. I feel CHEATED. I would return it for my money back if I could. A buying guide that is paid off by advertisers is WORTHLESS. This is like payola to disk jockeys. We know that magazines cater to their advertisers and we take that into account. But a once-a-year publication that touts itself as "THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO SAILBOATS, CHARTERING AND GEAR." that doesn't have Hunter, Lands' End, or Chicagoland Bareboaters Club is LESS than Ultimate. There is a related web site that does list all the Hunter models but the published version doesn't even have Hunter's web address or Email.
