Curious to all hurricane survivors. How long should you wait to move your boat out of it's hurricane hole, land, or protected slip back to its slip? Our boat did exceptionally well in the water in a very large safe slip through Isabel. Now we need to put her back, but as we can see from shore there are many pilings, debris, parts of boats floating, some half submerged. When should it be safe to move the boat its 10 mile journey home from the Rapp, back to the delt? We hear 2 weeks minimum???? Thanks to everyone with hurricane prep comments, they worked for us!!!!

Scares the hell out of me

Seeing the amount of debis in the water, including whole trees, we are staying on land until next spring. I now this does not answer your question but a lookout on the bow and slow speed would be prudent. A friend has a previously scheduled curise around the bay next week and he is questioning going due to the debris. Be Safe Jim S/V Java

Go Now

I pulled my boat for Isabel on Tuesday and went back in the water on Saturday. I motored from the Patapsco River to Annapolis on Saturday and sailed on Sunday (yes, the weekend after the storm). Went out sailing again yesterday and saw virtually no debri. Yesteray was 10-15 Knots, Sunny and 80 degrees. Fall sailing on the bay is great!

Isabel

Isabel hit us on the 18th, and we were out both Saturday and Sunday. Beautiful sailing. Didn't see a thing in the bay (Chesapeake Bay).
