paralysis due to electricity that leads to drowning is what happens. Not electrocution where you fry like in an electric chair. Our muscles work using elctrochemical impulses. An electrical current interferes and stops the muscles from working properly. http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/00042081.htm
How come the fish are still swimming if all this electrolysis is messing with muscles.

Hey, but I always thought a littlle electrolysis was good for stimulating hair growth.

Electrolysis has two definitions AFAIK, and only one really relates to boating. One is "A chemical reaction of a metal with another metal in the presence of an electrically conductive fluid, causing one to erode." The other is the use of electrical current to kill off hair follicles as part of a depilatory process.

I don't think that I mentioned electrolysis. As to fish as a student we used a 12 volt motorcycle battery to stun fish for study. Obviously fish will leave an area where there is an electric current if escape is possible. We shocked them in trout streams and they tried to escape but usually they tried to hide and then floated to the surface. Most survived once the electricity was removed. http://www.silsoeresearch.org.uk/animal-welfare/jeff/conductivity.pdf
