UK Halsey Lazy Cradle experience?

I'm thinking of installing a UK lazy cradle to replace my mainsail cover with the idea of simplifying raising and then stowing the main. The boat is a 35 C&C that I frequently sail singlehanded. I now use bungee lazy jacks (clip on before dropping the sail and then stow at the mast after the sail ties go on)

Any experiences -good or bad with this product?

We don't have one of theirs. Ruth sewed one up ...

... for our Mac and we love it. One of the nicest things on the boat...

..... We will be making one for the Endeavour also. If you don't have the resources to make one, get one and I'll about guarantee you will be happy.

I installed this on my Catalina 30 beginning of last season and have been very satisfied after dealing with a Dutchman system. Only complaints - the red clips (starboard) that gather the cradle material are sun sensitive and one became brittle and cracked. The mast end needs an added set of straps to gather the cradel material - I spoke to UK and they will fix these for me this winter. I chose this system largely to facilitate sail handling when solo. I bought one from the local UK Saildealer in Bayfield back in 2008 for my Hunter 40.5. I love it. It it is very well made and has been exactly what I wanted. I love the fact that the way it's made I have the option of rolling the bag down and clipping so it doesn't cover the sail or I can just leave it up. The trick is to be sure to ease the lazy jacks before raising to keep the battens from getting stuck. It also came with 2 compression posts/fittings for each side of the bag top. Be careful when removing them for two reasons. One, make sure the expensive compression fitting doesn't pop off and get lost (very expensive). The other is to make sure that you mark the compression pieces as fwd/strbd and aft/strbd. Otherwise it is hell trying to get the right post in the right place.
