You are either the most patient person on these boards or you found a bunch of bandwidth somewhere ;-)We never, ever race our boat, but if someone wants to hire me to push their boat to the absolute limit, then here's my phone number.
Yep, today the internet is running a bit faster than 'dial up'.You are either the most patient person on these boards or you found a bunch of bandwidth somewhere ;-)
Its 99% certain its the main trimmers fault. Usually a jam. Big fractional race boats cannot turn down unless the mainsheet is given a big ease. The rudder just washes out. The vast majority of the time there is a P/S tee-bone in a high-end race, thats what happened.I wonder if the Skipper on the Audi A1 ended the race with a new moniker...you know...Captain Crunch?
I'm not so sure that this collision wasn't simply bad steerage and timing. After finding a slightly different video, I see a lot of rail meat and not much trim going on at all. I do see the mainsheet being eased, but the helm seems to respond really late. Check this out:Its 99% certain its the main trimmers fault
Yes! That was my favorite part of the video as well.Love those Aussie 18 foot skiffs..... rockets crewed by mad men.
The Skipper (Jochen Schuemann) said the rudder was loaded up and they couldn't turn. That's pretty much code for the main wasn't out, without directly blaming the trimmers.I'm not so sure that this collision wasn't simply bad steerage and timing. That was great! Here's a clip from the Grand Prix series circa 2008. Used to watch this series on the outdoor channel back in the 90's....
And... the driver gets some "fault" too.Its 99% certain its the main trimmers fault. Usually a jam. Big fractional race boats cannot turn down unless the mainsheet is given a big ease.
