U Shaped Setee

I am about to build a U Shaped Setee and would like to know if anyone has done this and what problems i will run into. Firstly, i want to mount the table on a pedestal, approx how much clearance between the floor inner lining and the hull and what kind of hardware should i use?Second, the added setee, along the bulkhead of the head will house 4 golfcart batteries, when i make a wooden platform to level the batteries, what is the best way to anchor the wood to the inner floor lining?...fiberglass? 5200? duh?

What I did

Relative to the pedistal(s). I used two so that it would be stronger and less likely to twist. The pedistals screw out so the table can be stored in a seaway or dropped to make a berth. There was plenty of clearence under the sole to attach everything.Under my seat I put an a HVAC unit. I built the base up with ever larger pieces of 3/4 inch marine plyboard. Two pieces up I bolted it to the cabin sole. The bolt heads were recessed so that I could put another piece on top and hold it with lag screws. All pieces were beveled to fit the slope of the sole in the forward outboard corner. Also the top piece is cantellevered about two inches over the inboard edge (over the bilge panel so that I didn't have to cut it) and aft. It gives the finished product a neater edge (like the cabinets in your kitchen at home). My top piece fits the cushion that is used to make up the double berth. The table fits into the edge of the new structure so the double berth in the salon works works as it always has with the same cushions.Good luck.
