Ok so I'm assuming my sampson post is bronze and the bolts and nuts that are rusted like no ones business are stainless.... who doesn't think of these things? Well anyway I'm rebedding the post and I guess I'll do the same stupid thing any options that I might have.... such as where can I find big bronze bolts washers and nuts? Don

Considering the location on the galvanic scale, dissimilar metal corrosion should not be an issue between an 18-8 bolt (basically passivated type 304) and silicon bronze. The closer an item is to another, on the galvanic scale, the less risk of corrosion. Silicon bronze is #70 and type 304 is #71.. It doesn't get much closer than that unless of course your sampson post is not actually silicon bronze...? #70 Silicone Bronze 655 #71 Stainless steel 304 (passive) #72 Stainless steel 301 (passive) #73 Stainless steel 321 (passive) #74 Stainless steel 201 (passive) #75 Stainless steel 286 (passive) #76 Stainless steel 316L (passive)

It's more likely that you have some Galling of the stainless than a dissimilar metal issue. Get a Dremel and cut off wheel and just slice them of and be done with it.. If your bit was aluminum I'd buy into corrosion but not with bronze..
