Two axle or one for trailering?

The Macgregor 26X I just bought didn''t come with a trailer. I'm leaning towards a dual axle trailer but was wondering if there were any drawbacks over a single axle? I'll be using it a lot. Eric

2 axle tracks better, but...

2 axle tracks better, doesn't sway as much. 2 Axle trailer will be more expensive and requires 4 tires/hubs to maintain, etc. Fair winds and roads, Tom

Two

I have a 26x and would rate the trailer as my greatest complaint. A tandem axle trailer would be a beautiful thing. Greater weight capacity--the stock trailer is at the edge of its limits, tire redundancy in case of blow out, better tracking & stability and easier backing. K

depends on weight

I would check with your dot and see what your allowed on a single axle.you will be responsible if anything breaks, and we know how hungry lawyers are.i would go with two axels if for nothing else safety.you say you will be using it a lot,if you have a flat on a double axel the other tire will allow you to get to a lot safer place to change the tire.hope this helps, good luck.

2axles

I'd go with 2 axles. I'm considering changing my 22oday trailer to them. There's a little bit of dragging, sometimes, in sharp corners, the farther apart the more there will be(theorectally). Pluses outweigh minuses.
