My 1985 Catalina 27 has the mainsheet rigged as it came from the factory. The rope twists so badly that the friction created makes it very difficult to move the sheet.I periodically remove it and trail it behind the boat under power to get the twists out,but it's a pain and once it's used a few times it's twisted again. Any suggestions? billsuelayton@rivnet.net

Replace the line

It may seem elementary, but have you thought of replacing the sheet entirely? Some line is better than others for that type of usage - I'd check with an expert (like a number of folks here!). LaDonna

this is cheaper

Yes you could put new lines on each time out or.....instead of coiling up your main sheet in a nice coil each time you clean up the mess of line....coil it in a figure eight coil. when you coil the line in a circle, you put the twist into it. Coil it in a figure eight and the twists go one way then the other...less twist will end up between the blocks.
