What's the difference, ( in application ) in a twisted shackle vs. a straight D shackle. When I pulled the sails last Fall, I noticed the main and the jib had different shackles and was curious why the different types.
The majority of times a straight D is the way to go. A twisted shackle should be used when using a D will place a sideways, as opposed to up and down, strain on the pin.
