Twisted batten

I have approx. 10' batten that has developed approx a 180 degree twist. Any suggestions on straightening same. Will clamps work? or is Heat needed? or is it time to get a new one? Joan

You could try heat to the area of the twist while clamping it straight, but ya probably better off just getting a new one. Take the old to a sailmaker and ask what caused it to do that..

If it had been under the sail cover on the mast for a long time I would guess that the sail slipped on the boom and put a twist in that batten.

Sometime you want some twist in the sail for that little bit more speed. Now you have it ;)
