I have a twist lock whisker pole. the last section is frozen. Im thinking some heat may solve the issue. My question is how do i disassemble the other section? I tried putting the fitting in a vice, unlocking and pulling hard, but it only goes so far. Are there tricks to this?

I had one do that.. got some PB Blaster sprayed into the bad section where it could work on the lock cam inside the tube. A few days of soaking then some gentle tapping where the cam is inside the other tube.. got it free..

Probably the salt has fomed around the cam from storing the pole on it's rubber cap. Take the rubber cap off, set the lower 3 inches or so into a container with vinergar should disolve the salt. Otherwise, take the rubber cap off to see how far up the inner tube is stuck. Us a pipe cutter to cut the outer tube and take it off. You will have to shorten the working end of the pole by however much you cut off the outer one.
