Turning block installation

I have a 1984 Hunter 34 with the factory installed turning blocks. My understanding is that there is an internal aluminum plate installed at the factory which allows fastening the turning block without having exposed fastening visible inside the cabin. Attached photos show the original turning block, the Gauhauer quad turning block I want to install and a photo of the cabin top below where the blocks are installed showing where I would not like to have anything showing. Has anyone out there done a project like this and could provide guidance/hints/solutions? Does anyone know exactly how big the aluminum plate is?

That's what I was thinking of as well. Wasn't sure the stackup would cause problems running under that cover

The stacked deck organizer will not allow the lines to run under the sea hood. I have the same boat and I am working on the same problem. I assume that you have a quad rope clutch that you want to run four lines to. Maybe rigging the boat for a spinnaker? The aluminum plate is in there and you can drill and tap the plate and screw the machine bolts to it. The question is: where is the plate? How far in each direction does it go? Is it big enough to get all four screws of your new deck organizer mounted? The other issue is the angle at which you will bring the lines into the deck organizer. They need to run clean on the sheave. This is complicated.

Mine were converted to a quad stacked unit by PO in 1988 but it is not Garhauer. I don' remember the manufacturer. The stacked unit works very well . PO selected a unit whose bolt centers and threads were same as original.

Port side runs: port jib halyard, spin halyard, vang and reef 2. Starboard side runs: stbd jib halyard, spin pole uphaul, reef1. all run fine into the tunnels..

I'm having a problem with the machine bolts seizing in those plates. None of my sheet track end cap bolts will back out. Might be a problem on your deck as well

Kloudie: I have seen pictures of your stacked deck organizers and I am baffled by that. No way it would clear on mine. The line barely clears on the single level organizer. If it cleared that would be the way to go for sure.

Maybe you could trim the opening to your Sea Hood to make extra space for the lines?

Mine are stacked as well because I did it. Yeah, the top lines touch a little on entry right at the opening but it's smooth. Then it's downhill under the seahood so they don't touch. So far in at least 15 years they have not chafed at all. I did rotate the assembly to give more room for the four parallel lines at the far end. That necessitated drilling and tapping one additional hole. That raised area where the blocks are currently mounted....that's how big the plate underneath is...it's pretty big and about 1/4 inch thick.

I installed a deck organizer that is 3 sheaves wide. The aluminum plate was large enough so I just tapped it in and screwed it down - With some bedding compound.
