So my boat has the Navtec C500 style turnbuckles. I am planning on replacing the standing rigging and using Hayn turnbuckles. I'm trying to work out the lengths. Is it as simple as subtracting the closed length from the open length to get the usable range. Then figuring 1/3 of that and adding it to the closed length?
I know I could pay someone to do the rigging. I plan on ordering everything and matching the length from the existing rigging, the mast is already un-stepped. I'm still deciding about using mechanical or not. Mechanical would allow me to make the last cut.
No way to tell how old the current rigging is so for piece of mind, replace. Also the replacement studs for the C500 cost enough to justify replacing. I believe they recommended replacing the studs fairly often.
