How about some new Standing rigging that has not stretched with age and
also check that the mast step is not sagging inside the Vega.

Every year the same problem. I step the mast, start tightening the stays and end up with one or two lowers still slack with the turnbuckles cranked all the way.

Is there a step by step method for setting up the rig on the Vega?

Sounds like the problem to me too. New wire is in order. Tendency is to go
oversize but don't. When the rig was designed the wire was one size larger
than needed. You will save a lot of dollars on the cost if you replace
everything and you should.
Now my question for the group. Does anyone have any experience with Harken
MKII roller furlers? Walt, Lyric #120
