OK, the shrouds are all set at about 15% of breaking strength, a little light, but I, too, am "afraid of breaking something" as the Loos Gauge directions put it. Here's the question: What to do with the forestay on a rig that's set up for roller furling? How do you measure the tension, never mind tighten it? Thanks for any insight. Drew Almost-Tuned 240

no need to measure the forestay tention, use it to set for/aft rake of the mast and tention the shrouds per other posts.

That's tuff

With my Harken system, I could never explain it here. You would need photos and a guide from Harken. What brand furler do you have?

I have a CDI and with the mast up and forstay connected to the bow and before you put the hank/slide the jib on you can just slide the grey form (luff extrusion) up the stay to expose the turnbuckle, adjust and slide down again. Remember to put the cotter pin in. That easy for the cdi anyway. The luff extrusion is only held down by gravity until to put the sail on and tie the tack off at the bottom. see cdi web page, migth help you.
