I need to tune the standing rigging on a Beneteau First 265. Does anyone know where I can find the correct tension for the stays? I am new at this and I will have help from a friend with one of those instruments to measure the tension. But we don't know what the tension should be. Thank you for any help.

The First 265 uses 6mm wire for its shrouds. As a baseline you should set the rigging tension on the cap shrouds (V1s) to 20% of breaking strength. That's about 1270 lbs. Depending on the gauge you use, it will set for the 20% or the 1270. Backstay OFF when doing this!

The lower diagionals (D1s) will be set less; setting them too tight will inhibit mast bend. So leave them loose, set the V1s, put the backstay full on, them tighten them so they are hard.
