Just got my O'Day 35 back from haulout. The forestay was removed to make repairs to the bow. I had a rigger check it over while at the haulout yard. The rigger said the mechanicals were fine and tightened the backstay. Now when the boat is at the dock (no sails up) the mast is pumping in the center when the wind is between 5 and 15 mph. We tried to stay onboard last night and went home at 4:00 AM because the noise was so bad and the whole boat was shaking. The tuning instructions in the O'Day manual are pretty vague. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to tune the rigging so that the mast doesn't pump! Thanks in advance, Jay

Brion Toss Tuning Video

Jay I have very little trouble with the mast pumping on our O 35. I tuned the rig with a Loos Gage and the process described in Brion Toss' Tuning video. Until I got the video it did not make since. Now it is much better and I understand it. See link below. I know how the O'Day manual has very little. I will scare up a subsequent listing that Brion had on his site on the forestay question and post it. Good Winds, Dave s/v DAMWEGAS
