I am looking for reviews on the tufted topper mattress pad. I have 4 inch cushions but they are hard to lay on for any lenth of time and I find myself tossing and turning quite often at night. thanks for your reviews, Jack PS. I have a feeling when I get my boat the way I want it,.. I'll want a larger boat

Wonderful

I had one in my Catalina 270, made a world of difference in sleeping. A good investment from my perspective. Like you, the mattress/cushion that came with the boat was not very comfortable for any long period of time.

Go to Costco for a memory foam pad

They have these memory foam pad, about 2.5" thick. I bought one and cut it to size, and put it on top of the factory cushion. We used to toss and turn every night, and wake up with sore backs. Now, it is fantastic. Works great.

Feather Beds

We use feather beds (Bed, Bath and Beyond)that go on top of the mattress. We also use the covers with the buttons at the bottom. I put coordinating buttonholes in the top sheet. Not only is it comfortable but the bed is snap to make and the top sheet doesn't pull out. Everything fluffs up in the morning. Changing the sheets is even easier. No more trying to get down in the small space to tuck sheets in! They also store very easily in the winter in plastic tubs with dryer sheets placed in the folds and they fit into those new XXL Ziploc bags. Because there isn't the word "marine" attached anywhere in the name they don't cost a small fortune. We outfitted all the bunks in the boat(3)for less that 200 bucks.

I'll third it! the queen size foam pad is about $130 (may be more now because of the rise in oil prices)but it made a huge difference

I like the Tuffed Topper

Added one to my 12 yo boat. The cushions are in good shape, but the topper helps a lot. No more "Waffle Face" from the broad weave cloth after waking from a nap! Marc

Sandi, tell us more about your buttons

To make sure our sheets don't pull out at the bottom. This is how we did it. We made fitted bottom sheets with the top attached to the bottom. We took the bed cushions home. We then took a set of sheets. We put the bottom sheet on the floor, the put the chsions on top of it. We then folded the sheets over the cushions, like wrapping a package. Marked where the edge folds are, then sewed the folds. We then sewed the top sheet to the bottom sheet. Done. Sewing the sheets was a lot of work, and putting the sheets on the bed is not too easy, but making the bed each morning is so very easy. Just pull up on the top sheet, and you are done. And they never pull out. Your button idea, if I understand it correctly, would be even easier. Could you give me a detailed description of it. Thanks.
