ok everybody hears the scoop.......For an Air conditioning or refrigerationCompressor to survive it must Get whats called: Sub cooling, back to the refrigeration compressor. This is why one of the lines-Called the suction line-(the larger one of the two)is Cool.It May Sweat Depending on the humidity out side and even under normal Conditions Sweating is normal.all it is is the humidity condensing on the cold suction line. That is why in the refrigeration and air conditioning Industry all Suction lines are insulated. As you would see at your house for instance the large line has 3/8" thick wall insulation around the suction line.As Temperatures Decreases ie:freezers-Suction lines Get colder and insulation wall thicknesses areincreased. The Reason the line is insulated is because the moisture in the air will freeze on the pipe and grow in size.Making a mess when the unit turns off the ice melts, unit turns on ice forms again.what a mess you can have.Insulate all suction linesso that the moisture in the air doesn't condense on the cold pipe surface makinga wet mess everywhere.
