Good news is I found my leak on our 84 H31. It's leaking from the starboard scubber drain exit. The bad news is it is not leaking from the hose to fitting conection. The fitting itself is leaking, and to make matters worse it's leaking under the fiberglass "box" that holds the fuel tank. If I get in the starboard compartment and squeeze between the fuel tank and the hull, I can see the scubber where it exits the hull, and it is bone dry. So that makes me think that the only way to stop the leak is the line the inside of the scubber fitting with some kind of underwater epoxy. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Bob

Bob: I think that this means that you need to pull the boat to fix it and fix it right. I would think that this is probably less than a half a day and should be able to fix it from the outside. I would bet that the area where the nipple is glassed into the hull is where the crack is. Good luck, let us know what the final outcome is.

I think your right. Do you think I get away with an underwater epoxy patch unit my next haul-out.Most yards here want $200 just for the haul, not to mention yard fees. Thanks for the advice. Bob

I had this EXACT same problem two years ago in the exact same location. I had the boat pulled, ground out the bad area, and reglassed it all. Not cheap but worth it. It went from having the bilge pump go off every five minutes to not a drop of water in the bilge for two years. Take the advice to haul it and do it right. Good luck.

Here in the Northeast w/ a 6 mo. sailing season, I'd epoxy it and wait if the leak is not too bad. In Fla. with all year sailing, you might as well do it now, unless your proposed haulout is in the near future. You know that the problem is going to be nagging at you till you fix it.

The other night after work, I used a whole stick of epoxy putty to seal around and inside the fitting. This is temporary till I can latter haul the boat. The epoxy worked great and set up as hard as fiberglass. I hope to get the boat out this weekend and I'll let you know if the repair did the trick. Thanks, Bob
