I have a 2003 Catalina 270 with a Seward water heater under the port side cockpit bench. A hose comes out from the water heater about 4 inches long, then it is connected to a longer piece of hose by a PVC pipe, also about 4 inches long. All is held on by clamps. In the end of the PVC closest to the water heater is a small, one way filter. The PVC pipe broke. I need to replace it. It looks like the little filter might have been attached within the PVC piece, but I can't tell. I have tried West Marine, RV stores and tried to find the manufacturer on line. Anyone know where/how to find the part? Thank you.

The short PVC pipe is

what you call the "small one way filter" -- sounds like a check valve, which only allows water to travel one way and is associated with a water heater. Check the West Marine catalog and you see them under plumbing. There are about a half dozen types and sizes. You should be able to find one to match. In order to best understand the hot water heating system on your boat, I recommend looking at the West Marine catalog, which has a great description of the water systems on boats. It's in their catalog and may also be online in their Advisors, although I don't know if the drawing that's in the catalog is also online. Stu

little help

Shari.... Unfotunately your Previous owner did not leave a collection of manuals for the boat systems. Since you haven't had any luck finding the manufacturer through the internet I would find a compnay that SELLS Seward water heaters, call them and ask for the manufacturers information. I guarrantee they will have it. Try your closest chandlery first. Here's a link to an internet company that sells Seward water heaters, call them to get your info. http://marineengineparts.com/
