I am having lots of trouble raising the swing up rudder on my recently acquired '80 Oday 19. It is a real bear to get it started up, as there seems to be no leverage - the haul line runs straight up the back of the rudder, then between the cheekplates bolts. It is a recently replaced rudder from D&R, and looks like solid fiberglass. I tried backing off on the bolts which helped a bit.Is this a common problem? Is there a fix? I am starting to think of adding a pair of triangular extensions back from the cheek plates with a sheeve to redirect the haul line! As I moor off a shallow beach, I have to tug the rudder up every time I come in! Thanks!
