My St 1000 went crazy Again. With less then 10 hours since last repaired by Raymarine. And it had about 10 hours or less on it when it was repaired the year before. So now I have $500.00 in repairs on this thing. The first time they said it was water intrusion. Second time said it was fried. But all three times now the symptoms have been the same. I was going to throw it to the deep depths but I didn't want to make Neptune mad at giving him such a worthless piece of crap.

Since I single hand most of the time a auto helm is indispensable. So I am wondering whether I should go to a Simrad or step up to Raymarine 2000? At this point I hate to give Raymarine any more of my money. So any advice and or any info on these two units would be nice. Greg

I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
What unit do you have now?

It sounds like you got a lemon. I would be pretty mad too.

I would speak with Raymarine and let them know your frustrations. Maybe they will fix it on them this time, once in for all. I am not sure how they feel about customer service.

I have ST 1000. I went round and round with them last time. I almost didn't have them repair it then because of their attitude. Shouldn't they warranty it after they fix it?

I've got a ST2000 on a C22 that has performed flawlessly, but only about a year now.
And that may be all, the boats on the hill. I oughta sell it all...

My 1000 bit the dust last year. Rather than sink the 5 bills for repairs, I spent 5 bills on a new 2000 from Defender.
It's a much faster unit than the 1000.
