Just a quick note: We left Cobb Island down the Potomac on Saturday the 7th, suppose to leave on Friday but the Northeaster at 45kts changed out minds. Saturday was bad enough beam reaching in 20kts hit the Chesapeake when the winds hit 33kts with waves hitting 6ft. Can you say WILD RIDE, but the Java handled it well. Spent the night in Reedville and continued to Portsmouth. There where times we were hitting 10kts on boat speed but was worth it. Spending a couple of days in Ocean Marine marina - GREAT PLACCE. I slip just across the river

I keep my Catalina 30, Spirit of Liberty, Just across the river at Colonial Beach. I have been into Cobb island a few times this year and I usually ancor not too far from Pirate's Cove Marina. Your boat name seems familiar, I believe that I might have seen it. Anyway, good luck on your trip. I can tell you that Smith Point is not the place to be in a 45 knot North Wester (I was there by accident this past April doing a transport on my boat from Deltaville). Maybe I'll see you out there sometime. Take it easy and good sailing.

We too...

...are headed down the Potomac in our 240 for two weeks this Saturday! Umm, did someone say, "33kts and six foot waves?" <Gulp> We'll have to jump from hiding place to hiding place I guess. Beats work though!

Glad to hear your doing ok

HI Jim, Glad to hear you made it out of dodge before the window closed on you. We didn't get to get underway till Sunday. Went down to Tall Timbers for their end of winter celebration and headed back up on Monday. Dropped by to pick up some fuel and to say howdy but you weren't in. Have a safe trip and enjoy.
