treated canvas for bimini / pop top cover?

I'm considering using treated cotton canvas on my sailboat for my bimini and pop top inclosure, here's the material description. Wondering if anyone has any experience with this material and if it's going rip resistant enough for the application.

Fabric: 100% Cotton Canvas. 16 oz per sq. yard. 10 oz before water resistant treatment.
Fully treated. Resist water, mildew and rot.
Triple thick hems. All seams and hems are double-stitched for stronger canvas
tarps.

You are probably trying to get past the price of Sunbrella canvas, but there is a reason you will find it as the material of choice, it lasts and works .

Of note is that if you look as Sunbrella on Sailrite's site....

That fabric is about equivilant to blue jeans. You can get sunbrella on ebay in small lots for less than 10 dollars per yard.

I've been using cotton canvas as a tiki hut roof while I put off building a real one. The first one I put on ended up stretching and mildewing like crazy. The second I treated with spray water proofing and it still stretched and mildewed like crazy and only stayed nice a few weeks.

I bought a jib bag and tiller cover from Lee Sail Covers (not to be confused with Lee Sails) and they are made out of "WeatherMax 80" and this stuff is tough. Lee sells 60" wide for 13.75/yard.
