Does anyone here keelboat race on the treasure coast of Florida? I have been looking for some racing action since I moved from Wisconsin, but can only find small boats in Jensen Beach. I'm willing to travel from Vero Beach to Stuart if anyone knows of any.

The Palm Beach Sail Club does have monthly off shore races. A little further south than Stuart but worth it. The races are usually held on Sundays. For more information you can check out the website at www.pbsail.org or call them at 561-881-0809.

Most keel boats race under the PHRF handicap system. If you go to PHRF of Florida website you will find clubs that sponsor races in the various regions. Ray T

Saint Lucie Sailing Club Races

We spent the winter there last year and participated in several races. It was a lot of fun and the after race parties were great. They normally hold Saturday Beer can races every Saturday on which there is not already another event scheduled. They start at 1400 in the North Fork of the St Lucie River near the mouth of Bessey Creek. Participants will use club Beercan handicap and start will be a pursuit start. There is no committee boat and everything is done on the honor system. Normally all participants dock at the Deck Restaurant after the race for a short happy hour.
