I need to replace my travler cars on my 1983 catalina , My marina tells me I have to replace everything, track and all. Are there any retrofitted cars I can replace them with, or can I replace them with Harken cars, and what type.
Kevin, Do you have the old curved style traveler or flat? If you have the curved you just gotta change it out for the new flat Garhauer unit. What a difference! Now my wife can adjust the traveler in 20+ kts of wind with no effort at all. Chris
You can buy just the cars or the whole shabang at this site http://www.catalinadirect.com/traveler%20upgrades/traveler%20upgrades.html or directly from Garhauer Marine: http://garhauermarine.com/ The cars alone will run you $120.00 while replacing the entire rig with a new flat traveler is $450.00 I'd go along with Chris, if you can afford to replace the old curved bar, do so. You may want to try RigRite.com if you have a Nicro-Fico travler as they have parts and rebuild as we did recently with our end blocks for an /84 30' #3698...cost about $75 ea..good luck
