Traveler

I noticed that Dave of Norfolk asked a question about replacement parts for the traveler on his Cat 30. I just took a look at a running rigging replacement kit at http://catalinadirect.com/c-30%20rigging%20kit.html and was wondering if anyone has purchased it. I would be intested in knowing if the kit is a quality replacement system. The part number is K1838 and it runs $620.00. It includes a new traveler, car, traveler blocks, genoa blocks, and mainsheet blocks.

I just replaced my traveler blocks with Gerhaur for $45.00 each plus $12.00 shiping. The old ones lasted 18 years so I figure these should do as well.

Flat traveler

If I remember right the replacement kit converts from the arched traveler, that is original on the older C30, to the newer flat traveler. A flat traveler has the advantage of not changing the trim of the main sail as you move it. I can easily adjust my traveler with one hand on any point of sail up to about 20 knots.
