Traveler Tract bolts

I'm replacing the traveler tract and windward sheeting on my 28.5. I've found the traveler bolts on the starboard end of the tract doesn't seem to have any access. My only option seems to be to drill or cut an opening throught the fiberglass bulkhead in the head. Has anyone replaced their traveler tract and had a similar problem on a 28.5? My experience

I have to replace the bolts on the traveler chocks every 500 miles, because they are so thin that the tension of the main bends them. The bolts are machine size but with no nuts, so I just unscrew them from atop the traveler. If I wait too long and they sheer off, I have to dismantle the top of the pedestal to gain access from below, where I use a needle-nose vise grip to turn out the sheered bolt.

back plate, there is a backing plate.

Greggory: I think the 28.5 is similar to the H'31 '83-87 models. There is a backing plate under the traveler so it sould be as easy as removing one track and replacing it with another. If you want it to be very simple, find a manufacturer that will custom drill the track for you. We used a Harken system. Purchased the track from Harken and the cars and other hardware from the marine store. We did this on our H'31 and it was one the better investments.

28.5 Traveler Track

I have a 1988 28.5. On mine, the bolts have nuts that are accessable from inside the cabin.

Idea

Rather than change the track and the whole traveler why not just change the way the line controls are?? I have had a 23 and a 25.5 and now a 28.5 and I had redid my traveler by adding some blocks and a cam cleat to be able to sit on the rail control the main. I will be looking to do this to my 28.5 this winter. I did it just like one of the Harkin systems and used all Harkin blocks just did not buy the car and track.
