I'd like to add a traveler to my H27 (1980). Do you any of you have suggestions for where it could/should be placed? I'd like to avoid the spot in front of the pedestal. If you added a traveler to your boat, please share what kind you bought and how it went, any problems, etc. and how you like it! Thanks.

Check Photo Forum.

Search for "Traveler" in the Photo Forum for some ideas. I like mine(H37C) on the bridge deck for end-boom sheeting. But Hunter and many older model owners moved it to the cabin roof. A good source for doing that is Garhauer.

If you have wheel steering

Then you can't put it where ours is - aft of the tiller. That allows excellent control on the end of the boom, and is reasonably clear of the cockpit crew. Otherwise, Ed proposed the alternative - including Garhauer. A cabin top traveler clears the cockpit, and opens it up for a good bimini. The downside is that sheeting the main is hard on the boom and on you. Good luck, David Lady Lillie

end boom sheeting provides the best lead angle for the H27 main. my '78 had cabin top sheeting thru blocks and a cam cleat, it sucked,I found a used traveler on ebay and installed it aft of the tiller.install was easy and now the boat can point decently.try layline or APS for new gear.
