I have noticed that my main sheet traveler is hard to adjust. I tried installing new lines so next is the traveler car. Has anyone replaced their cars? Where did you find the best value for them. I am also trying to figure out how to grease the track on my mast so the main will go up/down easier.

DON'T GREASE

I don't know about your traveller but don't put grease on your mast. It'll pick up dirt & crud like you wouldn't believe.I would recommend cleaning it really well and then use SailKote but there's lots of discussion if you go into the archives.

Replaced our several years ago.

We replaced the traveler many years ago. We were experiencing these type of problems when the boat was only a few years old. We went with a Harken system. I can highly recommend their product for this application. They custom drilled the track to match the existing one, which made installation easy. If I were doing it today, I would probably look at a Garhauer Marine solution. Very nice products at very attractive prices. All of their products have a 10 year mfg. warranty. If you have any technical questions, Guido is the man to speak with. I would suggest that you order their catalog before you speak with them.

I replaced my traveler with a Garhauer traveler last year. What a difference! Their price and quality cant be beat. Order it at least two months before you want to install it or you will be without it for half the summer. They make each one when ordered, nothing is pre-made, so it takes a while. But It's well worth the wait. Unless you have new blocks for the traveler, order them at the same time. They're top quality too.

In reference to the mast problem: try "Dry Lube" a spray in a pressure can. This was suggested to me and I have used it to cure cranky mast track, cranky outhaul, and cranky furler (both the drum and track). It is indeed dry and leaves no visible residue or dirt. Available at WM and other chandleries.
