Hey Folks. I am in process fixing up a 74 OD 22. I am doin great and maybe looking to going sailing next summer. I want to know if anyone out there has any ideas 'bout putting the mainsheet either on a traveler OR in a spot OTHER than the (pitiful, lame, weak) backstay position. There must be a better way. Any Body got one???

Travler

Bob - You can go through the Harken or Schaefer catalogs and get risers and the necessary track to install the travel over the companionway. It'll work but might be cumbersom. I would consider using a dual mainsheet rig. By running mainsheet tack from the boom to each corner of the transom you can get the same level of control that a travler will give you with a lot less mess on deck. By sheeting in the windward sheet you can pull the boom as high as an aft travler would allow. By tensioning the leward sheet as you loosen the windward sheet you can change the angle of the boom to the boat without allowing it to rise - same as a travler. Justin - O'day Owners' Web
