Traveler car replacement

I need to replace the traveler cars because the plastic wheels are UV'd and the lip is cracked off. Does anyone know how to remove the rubber end stops that have a small metal piece on the top. I'm hoping not to have to unscrew the whole track just to get the cars off. 2nd question- The metal track cars themselves are ok, but it looks like the plastic wheels where tab mounted or made otherwise im-movable. Has anyone drilled out or modified these cars to be able to replace the wheels when they wear out/break? $60 each is expensive just to replace one track car even though only the wheels need replacing.

If yours is a cabin top traveler, just pull the metal pin up and out and slide the rubber ends out. http://www.rigrite.com/ has replacement parts. It is called a Nicro-Fico "X" track traveler.

it always baffles me that people will ask anonymous advice rather than call catalina. why?

they just forget the company is still in business. Plus, they may have asked CY by email, but CY doesn't do emails, they build boats. My experience is that they work with faxes and phone calls much better. Otherwise, ya got me, I dunno either. What's worse is that they usually don't even give us enough information to help them out. We'll keep trying though.

Why not call catalina?

Because sometimes getting a decent answer online is quicker and more effective than waiting on hold, except for your response which isn't even classified as such because you are also asking a question- a seperate question in my thread. Could you imagine if everyone who owns a Catalina in the world called the company for every little thing? That would get rediculous. There are several knowledgable sailors out there who are willing to take a moment to help other sailors, including myself. I don't know much about rigging, but I'm better at engines. Take your unwanted sarcasm somewhere else please.

That last response was meant for mortyd. It looks like my traveler is a Nicro X type based on the link by Don (thanks!). If I can get that rubber end stop pin out, I'm going to take the cars off and see about having them drilled. No sense in buying a whole new traveler and different cars, right? Brian- Do you know what size machine screws and locknut you used? Looks like this is my best option.
