I HAVE A CATALINA 3O THAT I WANT TO TRANSPORT AND OFFLOAD ONTO MY PROPERTY SO I CAN WORK ON IT. DO THEY HAVE TRUCKS THAT CAN OFFLOAD THE BOAT/CRADLE AND SET ON THE HARD? ANY IDEAS ON ADDITIONAL COST FOR THIS SERVICE?

Thats what I did

Most transport cos. have a tralier with a sliding platform: the cradle is blocked up and one edge sticks out beyond the blocks. Trailer is backed up under that edge and the cradle edge is let down on the sliding platform. Then the blocks on that end are removed and the trailer backed-up to the other end beyond the blocks so the rear end is over the back of the trailer (there are a couple of recesses in the back of the trailer to allow the trailer to back up past the rear blocks). Once the trailer is positioned the remaining blocks are removed and the whole cradle is now on the trailer, lock it down and go anywhere. Cheaper than a hydraulic trailer move, plus yards don't have to block/unblock the boat. Provided your yard doesn't try to sheister like mine.... AD

Brownell boat stands

I suggest Brownell boat stands. I just moved a Hunter 25 to my yard, bought the stands directly from the manufacturer, saved $50.00 per stand from West Marine's prices. The stands are better for working on your craft as they can be moved for bottom work.

Like Mark C.

I bought the stands direct as well and hired a hydraulic trailer for the move and agree that the ability to hop-scotch the stands is desireable for working the bottom. I have now rented the stands to another for whatever time it takes for his work and will get them back down the road sometime. It seems that here in Jax with several work yards going to condos that home-work will be the only affordable way of the future... Home security, availability to tools and convenience are another plus.
