I'm considering a purchase of a Hunter 310 currently in Gulfport MS. I need to transport the boat to Charlotte, NC. Any recommendations/contact info for good shippers? Also, does the transporter decommission/recommission, or is that strictly up to a boat yard? I need to locate one in Gulfport if necessary. Feel free to email me at bill@simoninibuilders.com Thanks!

Did You Buy it from Govert?

Ask him. If not ask him anyway he is the Hunter Dealer in Gulfport. I do not have the number in front of me but the dealership is Mid South Sailing. If there is anything I can do for you locally email me through this site and I will see what I can do.

BUYING A BOAT

It seems to me that there are so many smallboats for sale in these here u.s. that unless you are really getting a terrific buy of a beautiful boat or getting it free, it would not pay to ship a boat that cost you any money at all. I have noticed an awful amount of boats offered though this forum, and I think everyone involved in it has to be honest, or he would never hear the end of it.

I'll Call Midsouth

Thanks for the two comments. I'll call Govert at Midsouth, I'm buying from an individual, but I'll contact him, good idea. I agree that buying locally is ideal, however you often can't get the model/size/year you would like. This will be my 4th boat purchase, first two were local, third was a 200 mile transport, this will be longest. This forum is ideal for finding good boats if you are willing to deal with the hassels of transporting.

Call BoatUS

They have a list of recommended/preferred or some criteria of haulers, particularly if you're one of their members an/or insureds. When I called I think I had to talk to several people before I ever got to the right person, but persistence paid off. They were very helpful.

Govert's Number

Govert can be reached at 228 863-6969. Tell him I said hello. He is sometimes a little hard to catch but he will be happy to talk to you I am sure. He commissions his boats in Theodore Alabama maybe you can work out a return trip part of the way. Crazy Dave is reported to be a dealer up in your neck of the woods he is probably a good one to get a hold of on that end. Again if I can do anything down here let me know.

Lemmonds'

I had a H27 transported from Charleston, SC and Lemmonds' only charged me $600 for the transport where everyone else was much higher! I was extremely pleased with their service also! I have currenly misplaced their phone # but shouldn't be too hard to find. They are out of NC close by Lake Norman! All Seasons' Marina is the only marina on Lake Norman that has a lift capable of your size boat and Lemmonds knows this! It is where they bring all the boats to to be put in Lake Norman if that is where you are coming to. And yes, comissioning is up to the individual marinas and you will have a lift fee of 95 tp $100 and a crane fee of 100 to $115 depending on the marina. If you can't find out Lemmonds phone you can e-mail me at WEverettCr@prodigy.net and I'm sure that I can find it for you! Good sailing!! Wayne Crites on Lake Norman, NC! Send me a pic of your boat if you get a chance! I have quite an extensive database of sail boat vessels and would love to add yours!

Need a Slip!

Dan - how 'bout if I raft off on your boat?? I can't believe there are no slips available right now. I was hoping to get back into Kings Point (was there from '92-'98), but all is full everywhere. I'm about 3 weeks away from boat arrival and looking fast and furious, my only hope currently is to tie up to the dock at North Harbor.
