I am currently looking at buying a 1982 Hunter 30 that would have to be moved from a lake about 450 miles to the Gulf. Does anyone know a ballpark figure as to the cost of transport?

Friend of my dad bought a 32' boat, 11.5' beam. He was looking at about $1500 to move it from southern MD to philadelphia (~ 250 mi). - He ended up buying a trailer for something like 7,000, getting a temporary oversize load permit, and pulled it with his big-block 1979 F250.

If you find a professional who hauls continuously, he may give you a price break if he can schedule at his convinience. So, he may trailer yours just after delivering another boat. I got a quote last year of 850 for tranport of around 250 miles. Call around get at least 3 quotes. Also ensure the point of delivery has adequate resources to unload boat if transporter is not using a hydraulic rig.
